Painting

Painting the walls is largely done, but we haven't started on architraves or skirting boards yet. Here's how Scarlett's room came up:

Easter weekend

We had a lot planned for this weekend.

HAD as in past tense.

Unfortunately we were just informed by our floor supplier (Tait Flooring), that there was a manufacturing defect in the finish of our american oak flooring, and that we would have to wait around 40 days for new timber to arrive and clear customs. Tait offered us alternative options - but all the colors have now been finalized and stains organized to match, so we're going to have to wait. Instead of laying floor boards this weekend so that the kitchen cabinetry could be installed, we're having to find other things to do :(

The good news is that most of the paint work is finished, and electrical fit off will begin this coming week. The tiler has begun work, and is working right through the easter break.

In terms of what we'll do this weekend - well there's a lot of little things that need doing that I'm sure will keep us busy - installing the ceiling speakers, terminating cat6 connections, finishing off the last couple of features with paint, and ordering architraves for the windows so that we can start getting those painted.

I'll post some new photos this weekend when I am back on site.

Front Column Finished

I spent last weekend painting the garage.

This week the ebony stained ship-lap cedar went up on the front column, and we were able to take the scaffold down.

Next week we are hoping to have the garage door installed

The scaffold is now down, all electrical and plumbing work is in, and drywall/plaster board is going up. Won't be long now....

Wiring Planning & Security

I've been spending some time lately trying to finalize the security system and the wiring elements for the audio and video switching systems.

Here's my current thinking on what I think I need to accomplish.

I sure wish UPB lighting was as affordable here in Australia as it is in the USA. If it was I'd be putting in a lot more lighting automation.
